Unit 10 -- Reflection

So this is the end of unit 10 and the class is coming to an end. A while ago I had set goals for myself regarding my spiritual, physical and mental self. I have been doing well so far chipping away at the goal sheet that I had put together. I feel that by the end of the year that I will have hit my goals regarding my integral self. I am excited to see what my life will be like when I get to reset them again and begin all over.

Unit 8: Blog Journal

Review the exercises and practice sessions you have completed in this course. (Loving Kindness, Subtle mind, Visualization, meditation etc.) Choose two practices that you have determined to be most beneficial. How can you implement these practices in your personal life to foster “mental fitness”? Provide specific examples.

The Subtle Mind and Visualization are practices that I currently do frequently. I feel that these practices help me focus my mind and bring things back into propective.I have found that these excerices are a great source of energy and confidence. The power of clarity give you energy to and since the sub-conscious mind is un able to determine the difference between visualization and physical practice, confidence is built everytime.

Unit 7: Blog Journal

Complete the "Meeting Asciepius" exercise on track #4 of the Dacher CD. Describe your meditative practice(s) for the week and discuss the experience. Explain how mindfulness or meditation has fostered an increase in your psychological or spiritual wellness. How can you continue to apply these practices in your life to foster greater health and wellness?

I feel that all of them are great to keep in practice. I especially love the creative visualization and mindfulness practice. I believe that by setting aside an alotted time each week will assist in making this practice a habit.

Describe the saying: "One cannot lead another where one has not gone himself” (P.477) How does this apply to the health and wellness professional? Do you have an obligation to your clients to be developing your health psychologically, physically, and spiritually? Why or why not? How can you implement psychological and spiritual growth in your personal life?

I believe that this saying points out that it is impossible to help a person in a specific thing if you have not done it. For example, a person that has always been large can not teach an individual how to lose weight, because they lack proficency in the process. My master always says "that you need to own the skill" and this is what he ment by that. Yes you have an obligation to walk the walk and talk the talk. Otherwise it is simply theory.I feel that stay on the path that I am on, keep setting goals and working towards those goals will help me achieve my desires.

Unit 6: Blog Journal

Describe the exercise and assessment process. What did you discover about yourself? What area have you chosen to be a focus of growth and development? Why? What are some specific exercises or activities that you can implement to foster greater wellness in this area?

The excercise involves deep breathing in a relax position and asking yourself "what part of my life is ready for growth and development". By oing this you can identify one of the four areas that you are looking to develop. For me I am working mostly on my wordly pursuits. I am working on this because it is the one that I feel is lacking the most. I feel that working on my education will help me develop this side of me.

Unit 5: Blog Journal

Compare and contrast the Loving Kindness exercise and the Subtle mind exercise. Explain your experience including the benefits, frustrations etc.

The subtle mind is an excercise to let go of thought as is passes through the mind. The Text describes the mind as an ocean with waves of thought on the surface. As we are able to dive deeper into our minds the water becomes calmer and the individual becomes less moved by the endless array of thought.

Discuss the connection of the spiritual wellness to mental and physical
wellness. Explain how the connection is manifested in your personal life.

Spiritual wellness to me is the gule that holds everything together. I almost imagine your spirit as the cup that holds your mental and physical abilities. If your cup is small you become overwhemed easy. Also if your cup is broken things leak out. I believe this is why my master always says empty your cup before class. I feel that this is allowing our spirit to obtain new knowledge and wisdom.

Unit 4: Blog Journal

Describe your experience. (Did you find it beneficial? Difficult?) Why or Why not? Would you recommend this to others? Why or Why not?
Experiencing love and kindness along with working on these areas of your life can change your body appearance. I personally have found this easy to do but hard to keep practicing. I would totally recommend this because you discover that there are so many things to be thankful for and when you realize this it feels that a large weight is lifting off your shoulders.

What is the concept of “Mental Workout? What does the research indicate are the proven benefits of a Mental Work Out? How can you implement mental workouts to foster your psychological health?

Mental work outs are essential to developing psychological health. Reading and Math have been found to active the most areas of the brain. In addition they have found that individuals brains can develop well into advance ages. This will keep you sharp and ready for the challenges of the world.

Unit 3: Blog Journal

Based on your reflections, and on a scale of 1 to 10 (ten being optimal wellbeing), where do you rate your A-physical wellbeing, B-spiritual well-being, C-psychological well-being? Why?

I see myself as physical well being of 7, Spiritual well being of 7 and Psychological well-being of also 7.

I feel that there are things that can be changed for the better and that I need to make an effort to refine the process. I do feel that I am on the right track. But mile to go.

Develop a goal for yourself in each area (physical, spiritual, psychological).

Physically I would like to complete 3 more cycles of P90x this year.
Spiritually I would like to meditate for 24 hours solid.
Psychologically I would like to read an additional 12 book on business development.

What activities or exercise can you implement in your life to assist in moving toward each goal?

To hit my goals I will need to committ to working out daily both physical and mental. This can lead up to a day in December when I can complete my spiritual goal.
